We begin.

In the springtime of 2010, as I made my way home from the school where I taught in Costa Rica, I was joined by a friend who had attended the same college as me back in the States. The walk was long, hot, and dusty, particularly daunting after a full day of teaching elementary school students. My friend and I had pursued different majors in college – hers in biology, mine in political science. Despite our academic differences, we found common ground in our shared love for learning. We decided to utilize our walks as opportunities to exchange knowledge gained from our respective disciplines. Sometimes, I would share insights from my classes on our way to school, while she reciprocated with lessons from hers on the journey home. In essence, we not only physically accompanied each other home but also enriched our understanding and contemplation by engaging in this practice. Through active listening, questioning, and reflection, we forged deeper connections and expanded our intellectual horizons together. We walked each other home both physically and intellectually. It was an interesting act of love and care between classmates, colleagues, and friends.

“We’re all just walking each other home.”

“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.”

“Love everyone.”

These messages from Ram Das teach us that there is so much to learn when we share, and when we listen. So, this is a space for me to share what is on my mind, and what my teachings are on my end of the keyboard and screen. It is my hope that you’ll comment and share your thoughts, so I can learn from you, as well.

Namaste, Meaghan
